School Music Abroad
In 1901, English music publisher John Spencer Curwen (1847-1916), a music pedagogue
like his more prominent father John Curwen, finished his journeys abroad. Their purpose
was to be introduced to vocal instruction in schools in order to put the tonic sol-fa
method to the test. His work “School Music Abroad” conserved his fresh impressions in
the same year, which has now been translated into German by Walter Heise.
